Designed by Jason Traves, UK Retail Presentation Manager at Levis and produced and installed by Minki Balinki (Nina Tillett, Creative Director, Paul Ryalls and team). Nina Tillett commented ‘it was a delight to work with Jason on such a show stopping installation’. The exterior area of the store, 14m long x 5.5m high, has been clad in 100 sq. m of copper sheeting which has been shape cut and detailed with oversized Levis rivets. Around 75,000 Levis waist buttons were hand applied to the main Levis tag, which is inset into the hoarding and lit with sparkle lights to enhance the buttons and provide a beautiful contrast to the industrial impact of the copper. The copper panels by their nature will become affected by the elements and an organic tarnishing of the metal will occur. Giving passers-by and those at the bus stop a subtle evolving scene on the outside, while the work on the interior of the shop progresses. Levis store is due to re-open Spring 2010.
