Selfridges, London: Colourful suspended shoe installation

Season:
Shoe Gallery Launch

Location:
London

Project type:
Design, Production, Installation

We designed, produced and installed this suspended shoe installation for Selfridges. Positioned in the atrium of their flagship Oxford Street store,  a total of 5,500 coloured plastic shoes were used to create this display. The shoes were flat-packed but then ‘popped’ into shape using the resistance of the material.
Attached on to a rig by hand using 36,000 fixings, the rig was raised at a pace so the matrix was fully clipped with the shoes. Drops of cable were used, measuring 1500 metres each. Our team for this project consisted of 22 ground staff and eight riggers, and took six and a half hours to create.
EPIC!
