"Matter cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed"
A series of windows created by Kyle Bean.
Working closely with the Selfridges Creative team, we crafted two windows within the series of five. We created the aluminium installation, placing 1,000 cans on one side of the scale and a compressed block formed from the same cans on the other, precisely counterbalanced. The second window featured a wedding cake, balanced against its exact ingredients on opposing sides of the scale.
Together, these sculptural installations explore transformation and materiality, presenting objects in their original form alongside their reimagined states. Weighing scales reinforce the idea that, despite transformation, the matter remains constant.
The result is a collection of striking window displays that visually interpret the scientific principle of conservation through crafted form. Based on the scientific law of conservation of energy… onstrating that even after transformation, the matter remains equal……
