Mulberry - Ostrich

We Love to make animals at Minki Balinki and these where defiantly very special. When the design team @Mulberry asked us to make these Ostriches’ we were so excited to start the process. We had the extra requirement that they were to be sent out across the globe, so therefore had to be made in sections. Mulberry where launching a new bag where they wanted to focus on the tag or fob as they called it. @Minki Balinki we are great fans of using mirror in small sections to build up a mirrored textured look. We chose a mixture of gun metal, gold and bronze in two finishes of mirror and matt. The design process started with a big discussion on how best to split the body up and how to effectively hide any joining sections and additionally keep light for shipping. After agreeing with the section we then go to make the body which in this case was 2.4m high and 80cm wide, making sure that the feet are the correct sizes and the weight is in the correct distributed with in the sections of the body so they were extremely stable.
